Rental units at 1105 Seymour Street

Our new social rental housing development in the Downtown South neighbourhood at 1105 Seymour Street is estimated to be completed in September 2017. Learn if you are eligible to rent one of the units.

The building will cater to low-income households offering 81 units, including:

  • 18 studios 
  • 44 one-bedroom apartments
  • 19 two-bedroom family apartments

The building is funded through Community Amenity Contributions, and will have service partnerships with Positive Living BC AIDS Vancouver , and SWAN  with non-profit space on the lower floors.

The building will be operated by the City of Vancouver until mid-2018. In the later half of 2018, the building’s management will be transferred to a non-profit operator.

How to apply

Based on unit availability, tenants are selected following standard criteria used by most landlords, including satisfactory landlord references and payment history, and by household income. RentSmart certificates  and referrals from partnering agencies will be accepted. 

Successful applicants will be given more than one-month's notice before the move-in date to provide enough time to give their current landlord their notice to end tenancy.

Occupancy policy

We follow the national occupancy guidelines for unit allocation. This means:

  • Minimum of one person and maximum of two people per bedroom.
  • Couples share a bedroom.
  • Parents don’t share bedrooms with children.
  • Dependents of opposite gender over the age of five don’t share bedrooms.
