Green grants

The Greenest City Fund supports your projects that help achieve our Greenest City goals for Vancouver to become the greenest city in the world by 2020.

Accomplishments

Since 2012, we've funded about $2 million to over 600 projects in partnership with the Vancouver Foundation:

  • 609 Greenest City – Neighbourhood Small Grants
  • 63 Greenest City Community Grants
  • 32 Green Generation Grants

We're funding two grant streams from 2017 to 2020

Eligible projects

  • Located in and benefit Vancouver
  • 1 to 3 years' duration

Recommended:

Funding

Up to 50% of your project budget, up to a maximum of $100,000 (usually the grant amount is $35,000 to $45,000)

Key dates

  • January 2, 2019: Start your application
  • January 2019: Information workshop – date to be determined
  • February 4, 2019: Last day to apply
  • Early March: Our Sustainability and Social Policy groups review the applications
  • April: City Council awards the grants

Eligible applicants

People living in Vancouver (registered organizations and businesses aren't eligible)

Eligible projects

  • Support Greenest City Action Plan targets (infrastructure, building upgrades, or maintenance projects aren't eligible, except for community gardens)
  • Free, accessible, and welcoming to all

$500 to $1,000

Key dates

  • February to April 2017: Apply
  • April to May: Vancouver Foundation reviews the applications
  • May to September: Implement your project
  • October: Report back on your project
